Curly Mak
We put sponge rollers in Makinze's hair on Thursday night!
I thought this picture was too cute not to share.

Here is the back! I wish that I had an after picture of her...but she came and asked for them to be removed after being in bed for a few minutes! She just couldn't handle it I guess. We'll try again soon!

BEFORE!

Here are some pictures of my classroom before the makeover! Makinze is sitting next to the cubby holder. We did TONS of work in my room before school started. I am so happy now that we did. I originally wasn't going to paint, but am so pleased with the brightness that it gave to my room. Sorry that you are just now seeing these pictures--but hey--I'm a FIRST YEAR teacher & am swamped with a million things they expect teachers to do!
I really love teaching! It is great! I love the school! Yes, it is my hometown--but things are going fantastic.
AFTER!
WHAT A CHANGE?!?! I had lots of help
with the Dr. Seuss inspired classroom makeover!
Tons of ideas from
the room where I student taught. Linda is probably laughing because it is really a mini-Barta room! I could not have done this without the help from Rick Turner (Yale School Board Member & great family friend!) and Heather! They worked really hard painting. I also received help from Makinze & Dylan! They both spent a lot of time with us while we worked this summer!
The yellow is actually A LOT brighter than what I had wanted...but it is fine now that we are all used to it! The border at the top of the room was Rick's idea & actually looks really good.
This is the NW corner of the room!

The east wall. I love the clothespins on the chalk tray for the kiddos to hang up their homework and the word wall under the board.

This is the SE corner of the room! My space! Notice the awesome memo board that Linda Barta made for me--I love it! Also, the peace lily plant on top of the cabinet Rob sent me for our 9th anniversary (Yes, he didn't realize that is what he was ordering!)

Swimming in January?!?!?
Yes, we went swimming last night... Well, let me rephrase that--Lisa, Mak, & Natalie went swimming. Rob, Nate & I watched! It was just too cold last night. The pool's heater was broken and the water temperature was 74--too cold for me. This was our second adventure to the YMCA to swim with Nate & Lisa! It is actually REALLY fun when the water is warmer...We ended our swim short because the water just was too cold for Makinze. Afterwards we grabbed a bite to eat and visited with our friends!

Dance, Dance, Dance

Makinze started baby ballet in December. It is her reward for being a big girl & using the potty ALL of the time! She loves it. She is all drama though when it is time to get dressed for dance class. She will only wear the blue leotards and as soon as she gets there she asks Ms. Amy if she has to wear her dance shoes! It is exhausting to get her dressed these days--she is definitely ALL girl!
P-T Demon Wrestling!
Monday night Mak & I went to the P-T wrestling
dual against Pawnee. We had a great time watching
the Wilson boys wrestle! Makinze & Jolie cheered
the boys on while they played!

Hunter's match! Won by a pin!
Makinze really loves the cheerleaders though! Kylie Jo is one of her favorites--she is on the far right in this pic!

We will miss you!

Today was a sad day at PCOC. Our preacher, Ryan preached his last sermon today...we will really miss them! However, Midland, Texas is gaining a great addition to their church & I know they will do GREAT things there!

The Wilsons got this cute OSU Cheerleader outfit (complete with pom poms and hair scrunchies!) for her for Christmas...GO POKES!
Christmas with the Wilsons!

Daddy: Makinze, do you know you're driving in circles?
Makinze: Yes, Daddy I like circles!
Out of the mouths of babes...
Is it really January?

Makinze was loading up the trailer on her tractor this afternoon! (Notice the sleeveless shirt & capri pants...it was gorgeous outside! She found this outfit in some clothes I was packing away...or maybe they could be left out--is winter ever going to arrive? I miss the SNOW!

Makinze with cousin, Morgan. This was Mak's first sleepover. Morgan gave her a good run for her money in their kicking contest!
New Year's Evaluations
The New Year is here and has filled the chatter with this year's resolutions. Well, I for one do not make resolutions! I just don't see why-you only make it a few weeks...and well you're back to the same old habits. I do however have end of the year evaluations with myself. This year I made lots of evaluations on myself-#1 as a wife, #2 as a mom, #3 as a teacher...and most importantly--as a christian. I have been failing in a few of those areas & have hoped that I will become better in all of those areas this year!
ON a different note, Makinze is getting SO big. She is really starting to become a sassy 3 year old. She is TOO into clothes & what she wears. THis is really horrible for her daddy in the morning as he is getting her dressed for school (our new word for daycare). I hope to figure out how to post pictures & hopefully put an end to the mass emails with pictures. Plus, it seems that all of my pictures haven't been going through on the emails over the past few weeks!
Happy Friday! Love to ALL!
